Boston University voicemail system has been updated, effective Tuesday February 16, 2021,  and contains several new features available to faculty and staff.

What’s New

  • Enhanced voicemail to email delivery for Office365 users.
  • Web-based voicemail inbox for listening to and managing messages, and resetting your password (PIN).
  • Larger voice mailbox sizes, reducing the occurrence of “full” mailboxes.
  • Enhanced security with encrypted messages and upgraded six-digit passcodes.

What’s Changed

  • Mailbox numbers are now only the last five digits of your telephone extension (formerly seven digits).
  • Some familiar numeric navigation prompts may have changed. We encourage you to listen to the system prompts.
  • Voicemail message status will sync across all devices for faculty and staff using a Boston University Office 365 email account. A status change on one device will carry over to all other devices using the same account.

What to Expect About The Migration

  • Recorded names and existing greetings automatically transferred to your new voicemail.
  • Existing messages were moved to your updated mailbox marked as new. You received an email notification for each message migrated to your new mailbox. Each voice message was timestamped with the migration date.
  • Your current passcode transferred to your updated mailbox however you will be prompted to change it upon initial login. New, enhanced security features require passcodes be a minimum of six digits and can not contain common or repeating sequences of numbers.
  • You continue to access your voicemail by calling (617) 353-9999. Press * to log in to your mailbox, you will be prompted to enter your ID, which is the last five digits of your seven-digit mailbox (35X-XXXX).
