
Meagan Comb
Executive Director, Wheelock Educational Policy Center
Meagan Comb is the executive director of the Wheelock Educational Policy Center (WEPC) at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & 人类发展. This role, she focuses on supporting rigorous, policy-relevant research in partnership with decision makers at the local, state, and federal level that transform systems of learning for a more just future.
Before joining BU Wheelock, Ms. Comb served as the director of educator effectiveness at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), where she oversaw the state’s policies and practices on teacher and leader preparation, educator assessment and licensure, educator evaluation, induction and mentoring, teacher recognition, and diverse workforce efforts. During her tenure at DESE, she led a team of 13 people, secured more than $5 million in grant funding for the department, and invested significantly in a robust research agenda to evaluate the work and shape of decision making.
Trained to be a teacher as an undergraduate at Boston University, Ms. Comb has worked in the Durham, North Carolina, and Boston Public Schools as an elementary teacher and instructional literacy coach. Throughout her teaching career, she complemented her classroom work with policy roles at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the National Council for Teacher Quality, and Teach Plus.
