Betsy Beckert

Doctoral Student

Betsy Beckert is a doctoral student in language & literacy education at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & 人类发展. Her work focuses on the multiple and multimodal literacies of signing deaf students. She is the recipient of a 2024 NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship.

Betsy has experience working in deaf education both in the US and abroad, as a Peace Corps volunteer in Usulut​​án, El Salvador, from 2008 to 2010. She also taught 4th and 5th grade students at the Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham, Mass.
