Over Intersession, and throughout the Spring Semester, IS&T has partnered with Ricoh to enhance BU’s MyPrint service. MyPrint allows students, faculty, and staff to print from any computer on the BU campus network (or off campus if connected through the VPN), including personally owned computers to printers distributed throughout campus, with a Print Center hub centrally located at Mugar Memorial Library. A base print quota is provided by the University, and more print quota may be purchased with Convenience Points. The MyPrint service does not include departmental printers
MyPrint is now easier to use, has more options, and best of all, is more sustainable!
New Printers: The University’s aging printer fleet has been replaced with EPEAT Gold certified devices. An EPEAT rating is given only to electronic products which achieve stringent environmental and sustainability standards for the entire lifecycle of the product, from design to disposal.
Self-Release Functionality: MyPrint printers now have self-release functionality. Send your print job, go to your printer of choice, and swipe your Terrier Card. Your document will print immediately. This change is expected to save 1.3 million sheets of paper annually through the elimination of cover sheets and accidental printing, while also providing greater access to printers at more locations on campus, any time the building is open.
Color: You may now print in color at multiple locations.
Simplified Printing: Instead of installing a print queue on your computer for every printer on campus, there are now only two: color or black & white. Choose the queue for the type of job you need. Alternately, you may use the new web upload feature via a browser.
Additional Locations: 8 locations have been added to the MyPrint fleet of printers. Here is a list of all the MyPrint printer locations.
Planned Future Enhancements: IS&T is committed to continually improving printing on campus. We are seeking ways to reduce print volume, while ensuring that the process is smooth and effective when printing is necessary. Over the next year, we hope to make the following improvements to the MyPrint service:
- Additional printer locations
- Improved printing from mobile devices
- Reinstate access to the service for BU affiliates
- Add the ability for IT staff to generate re-prints for you when something prints incorrectly
Visit the MyPrint page for more information about the service and to learn how to get started.
