Network Address Translation (NAT) allow systems with BU private IP addresses (such as IPs in the 10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255 range, sometimes referred to as 10-net) to access Internet resources for necessary business functions Systems typically assigned BU private IP addresses may include specialized workstations, some servers, scientific instruments, or other Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This NAT service is only for BU private IP addresses requiring access to external IP addresses.

What to Expect

This service normally will be available 24 by 7 except for standard change windows, as described in IS&T’s standard policies, procedures, and schedules for making changes.

  • On-campus source address with BU private IP address (10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255) 
  • Off-campus destination address
