Identity Services provides each individual affiliated with the University with a unique alpha-numeric identifier called the BUID.
Some resources (e.g., libraries and building access) also require use of the University’s official physical identity card – the BU Terrier Card – which includes the individual’s full name, BUID, and affiliation.
Benefits
Identity services unify a person’s identity across multiple affiliations and relationships with the University, simplifying the provisioning and de-provisioning of access.
Key Features
- A BUID establishes a unique identifier for each person
- That identifier is used throughout the University to provide appropriate access to resources
- Use of a single, unified identity helps ensure that appropriate access is maintained whenever a person’s relationships with the University change
