Use this code when you want a file to be viewed only by students registered for your class. Visitors will be prompted to give their BU login name and Kerberos password when they try to view files restricted in this way.
The code itself is made up of several components, formulated in the following manner.

The components are broken down like this: 09 | 3 | cas | aa | 371 | a1
The first two digits refer to the academic year. Academic years always span calendar years and are expressed like this: the 2009-2010 academic year. The “academic year” always begins with Summer Session 1. The class code abbreviation uses the second of the two calendar years that are spanned by the academic year. Therefore, for a class taught in summer session 1 in 2009, the class code would start with “10.” For a class taught fall semester in 2008, the class code would start with “09.”
The third digit refers to the session or semester.
Summer session 1 = 1
Summer session 2 = 2
Fall semester = 3
Spring semester = 4
For our example, the first three digits (093) indicate Fall Semester 2008.
The next 3 letters are the college abbreviation.
For our example, this indicates college CAS.
The next 2 letters are the department abbreviation.
For our example, this indicates department AA.
The next 3 digits refer to the course number.
For our example, this indicates course number 371.
The final 2 digits refer to the section number.
For our example, this indicates section A1.
