The form at the bottom of this page was created in Gravity Forms, a new forms builder that we installed for WordPress. As a comparison, we created the same form in HTML to see how long it took in both cases. The results of our comparison are below.

Creating This Form The Old, Manual Way
(Using HTML)

  1. Write HTML for form fields – 70 minutes.
  2. Write processing script (Telegraph) to handle processing of form – 15 minutes
  3. Test form and fix any errors found – 10 minutes
  4. Check confirmation email to ensure it contains correct text and form data and fix errors – 10 minutes

Total time to create: 105 minutes

Creating This Form The New, WordPress Way
(Using Gravity Forms)

  1. Create Gravity form and add all form elements – 5 minutes
  2. Insert form into WordPress page – 1 minute
  3. Test form and fix any errors found – 3 minutes
  4. Check confirmation email to ensure it contains correct text and form data and fix errors – 1 minute
