Overview
Marconi is an application used to automate common tasks used with online forms. Some of the most common Marconi tasks include:
- Sending emails
- Validating form data
- Writing form data to a spreadsheet or database
- Processing credit cards
WordPress sites usually use Gravity Forms or, for basic payment forms, Gravity Forms Nelnet Add Plugin instead of Marconi, but should use Marconi for special functions (e.g., more complex payment forms or forms pre-populating with Profile Information).
How It Works
Marconi uses HTML form code similar to Telegraph andPonyExpress, but with a separate XML configuration file to control form actions. Marconi form configurations and email templates are stored in GitHub and managed by the IS&T Web Team. Output files are stored in Marconi. Additional actions can be added to a web form by adding new directives (commands) to this configuration file.
