Library services
With locations spread across campus and resources available everywhere via bu.edu/library, BU Libraries supports the research and learning activities of the University community.
The BU Libraries provide access to millions of scholarly resources, including print and electronic books and academic journals, multimedia sources, unique archival materials, and databases. Many of these materials are available online or can be easily requested and retrieved at library locations.
Librarians are available for in-person appointments and via chat, email, text, phone, or Zoom to provide research help and reference services, and demonstrate research tools and services. Librarians also offer library tutorials, subject-specific consultations, and course guides with curated resources.
Mugar Memorial Library is BU’s largest branch, located centrally on the Charles River Campus. Mugar, and all other library locations, offer a variety of study and collaboration spaces for the BU community.

Printing & IT support at BU Libraries
Printing and document scanning services are available at BU Libraries locations. At Mugar Memorial Library, computer workstations are available on the first and second floors, and an IT Help Center provides technology support (software, hardware, and account services).
Boston University Campus Store
Boston University Campus Store is the University’s official campus bookstore serving students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the local community. The bookstore is located at 910 Commonwealth Ave.
Course Material Ordering
If you have an active BU login account and Kerberos password, course materials—including new, used, rental, and digital options—can be reserved ahead of time on the MyBU Student Portal. View your summer course schedule under “My Courses” under the “My Academics” tab, and click “Buy Books” for your customized list. You can also find a list of required and recommended course materials directly from the Find Course Materials section of the Boston University Campus Store website, where you can enter your courses manually.

Summer classes are held throughout the BU Charles River Campus. The three-letter code on your class schedule will tell you the building in which your class is located.
Academic support services
Educational Resource Center (ERC)
The Educational Resource Center helps BU students develop the range and depth of academic skills required by the University’s rigorous programs. The free services and programs are designed to help students discover effective study strategies that complement their innate learning styles. Services are provided by a team of seasoned professionals, graduate students, and undergraduate student leaders.
Peer tutoring is only available in a limited number of subjects. Peer Tutors, when available, are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The ERC does not guarantee the availability of Peer Tutors in all courses or subjects. We encourage students to visit the ERC website for additional resources and services offered both at the ERC and elsewhere at BU.
The ERC is located on the 5th and 6th floors of the Yawkey Center for Student Services at 100 Bay State Road. For more information about the ERC’s programs and services, including Peer Tutoring, Writing Assistance, and Language Link, as well as individual advising, please visit the ERC website or call 617-353-7077.
CAS Writing Center
Located at 100 Bay State Road on the 3rd floor, the CAS Writing Center offers free one-on-one consultations to students enrolled in Writing Program courses (CAS WR 111, WR 112, WR 120, WR 151, WR 152, and WR 153). Students enrolled in WR courses are strongly encouraged to make appointments in advance using the online scheduling system: bu.edu/writingprogram/the-writing-center. Students enrolled in other CAS courses may also use the Writing Center, but only on a drop-in basis by requesting an appointment here: bu.edu/writingprogram/the-writing-center/walk-in-appointment/. The CAS Writing Center does not offer support to students in non-CAS courses, for graduate-level writing, or for technical and career-related writing.
The COM Writing Center
The COM Writing Center offers tutoring appointments to students taking classes in the College of Communication who would like assistance with their writing assignments. Math Tutoring Room
Summer Term offers free, walk-in tutoring for Mathematics and Statistics summer courses in the Math Tutoring Room located at CDS 261 (665 Commonwealth Ave.). A tutor is available Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm. Since the tutors are BU graduate students, this resource is particularly useful for help with specific concepts and homework problems. The Math Tutoring Room is also a good place to study, do homework, meet with classmates, or just relax between classes.
