Therapy Dogs Help School Community Reduce Stress.
Morgan and Olive, large and lovable American mastiff sisters with a formidable social media following, stopped by the School of Public Health during National Public Health Week to help students reduce their end-of-semester stress.
The beneficial effect of pet ownership on stress reduction has been regularly studied for decades, so the SPH Student Senate, the Activist Lab, and other campus groups hosted a two-hour petting session to give students a temporary respite. At more than 150 pounds each, Morgan and Olive had more than enough canine companionship to share with the students, staff, and faculty eager to stroke the dogs’ massive heads and bellies.
