SMG to Hold First Health and Life Sciences Conference, Oct. 18.
The Boston University School of Management will host its first BU Health and Life Sciences Conference on October 18, 2013 as part of its Alumni Weekend and Centennial Celebration.
The half-day conference (12:15 pm start) will closely examine how to capitalize on New Opportunities in a Challenging Healthcare Landscape. Dr. Sachin Jain, Chief Medical Information and Innovation Officer at Merck and Co., will open the conference and provide insight into the landscape through the lens of three clinical vignettes.
PANELS:
How Healthcare Economics Drive Collaboration (Panel 1: 2:10pm – 3:00pm) will focus on how external forces have transformed the way major players in the sector do business. This panel will explore the following:
- The reactive and proactive measures or changes that are occurring (e.g. implementation of new business models and practices)
- The discussions taking place and the inclusion of new key partners to ensure major players have the ability to successfully adapt in a rapidly changing environment
Addressing the Risk Averse Environment with New Business Models (Panel 2: 3:10pm – 4:00pm) will focus on new opportunities that an evolving industry offers. This panel will address the following:
- What business models and products can be expected from “out of the box” start-ups
- What measures big players are taking to adapt their business models
