Anne Escher Named to AOTA Roster of Fellows

Anne Escher, a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy was named to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Roster of Fellows. She was honored for her remarkable contributions to the profession, in particular her leadership in advocating for access and inclusion.

This honor “recognizes occupational therapists who through their knowledge, expertise, leadership, advocacy, and/or guidance have made a significant contribution over time to the profession with a measured impact on consumers of occupational therapy services and/or members of the Association.”

Escher’s academic and scholarly interests focus on ensuring that all people can engage fully in important occupations. Her occupational therapy practice ranges from NICU and pediatric units at an acute care hospital, inpatient rehabilitation with older adults, home-based care for older adults with low vision, and community-based practice for adults with communication challenges.  Her most recent scholarly work promotes best practices – including evaluation, goal setting, and intervention – when working with adults with communication impairments. She recently spearheaded a project in collaboration with students and other faculty to create the Inclusive Teaching and Learning for Occupational Therapy Experiential Education resource guide. Her teaching philosophy includes a commitment to inclusive teaching practices and supporting students’ development into reflective practitioners who integrate knowledge for clinical decision making.

Escher will be formerly honored at the AOTA Inspire Conference in Philadelphia in April 2025.
