How to Apply

Boston University’s Online Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (PP-OTD) program is open to graduates from any ACOTE-accredited entry-level occupational therapy program, or (for international applicants), graduates of a WFOT-approved program. International applicants must provide documentation that they are eligible to practice as an occupational therapist in their home country. We also welcome applicants who can provide a National Government Recognition documentation of their occupational therapy program.
To be considered for admission to the PP-OTD program, please apply online via the Boston University Application.
If you experience technical challenges with the online application, please contact Application Support by email at sar-info.bu@liaisoncas.edu, by phone at 857-304-2001, or via online chat through the Applicant Help Center website. When contacting us, be sure to include your full name, the name of the program you are applying to, and your application ID number (located at the top of your application).
Application Deadlines
The PP-OTD program has rolling admissions and matriculates students three times per year. Please submit your application by:
- April 25, 2025 – To begin coursework in Summer (May) 2025
- August 20, 2025 – To begin coursework in Fall (September) 2025
Application Requirements
In addition to submitting an online application, the following items are required to be considered for admission to the PP-OTD program:
Transcripts
Completion of an entry-level bachelor’s or master’s occupational therapy program with a 3.0 GPA is required, with no grade below a C.
Applicants should submit unofficial transcripts (both undergraduate and graduate) by uploading them within the ‘Academic History’ section of the application. Applicants receiving a degree from a college or university located outside of the United States must also submit a formal course-by-course evaluation of all non-US transcripts from a third-party verification organization such as World Education Services (WES) directly to Sargent College.
If you are admitted to the program and choose to enroll, you will then be asked to submit official copies of all transcripts prior to matriculation.
Standardized Test Scores
GRE scores are not required to apply to the program. Any GRE scores received by the program will not be considered by the admissions committee.
For international students whose first language is not English, official TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic scores are required unless you have completed a baccalaureate degree at an institution where the primary language of instruction is English. TOEFL iBT scores should be submitted electronically through ETS to BU using the institutional code 3087. IELTS Academic scores should be requested from IELTS to be released to Boston University Graduate Programs.
Letters of Recommendation
Two (2) professional letters of recommendation are required. Letters of recommendation must be submitted through the online application.
