
Kara Peterson

Kara Peterson is the co-founder of descrybe.ai, a justice tech startup based in Boston, MA. She started the company with her husband and co-founder, Richard DiBona, in July 2023 as a way to leverage AI to help democratize access to the law and address the access to justice crisis in the United States. Kara leads the company’s marketing and business development functions.
In addition to being a justice tech entrepreneur, Kara is also a marketing communications executive focused on organizations with a social justice mission. She is currently the Senior Director of Integrated Marketing Communications at the Museum of Science, Boston, and previously held roles as Chief Communications Officer at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and as Executive Director of Communications at the Boston University School of Public Health.
Kara also volunteers extensively across the legal tech ecosystem, both in the Boston area and beyond. She is currently the Chair of the Communications Committee at the Justice Technology Association, a member of the Responsible AI in Legal Services (RAILS) Special Committee on Communications and Resources based at the Duke Center on Law & Technology, and a member of the all-volunteer AI Blueprint for Massachusetts, which strives to coordinate and implement practical and tactical efforts to attract and retain AI talent in New England.
A recognized voice for responsible AI and AI for good, Kara was recently named a “Woman of Legal Tech 2024” by the American Bar Association. She is a frequent guest on podcasts and a speaker at in-person events. Kara is also an active member of several women in AI and women in legal tech groups across the U.S.
Kara earned her MBA at the Boston University Questrom School of Business and her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin. She lives in Greater Boston with her husband, two human children, and two canine children.
