Part-Time MBA Course Waiver Policy

At the Questrom School of Business, we pride ourselves on offering the same high quality MBA education to our full-time and part-time students alike. We also understand the increased investment of time that our full-time working professional part-time students put into earning their MBA. In recognition of that commitment, the Questrom School of Business offers the following core course waiver policy to our Part-Time MBA students:*

Candidates applying to the Part-Time MBA program at the Questrom School of Business may request to be considered for Advanced Standing Course Waivers of required core classes based on: (1) previous completion of undergraduate or graduate coursework or (2) demonstration of competency, as outlined in each core course description below. For waivers granted on the basis of previous completion of coursework, the institution must have been accredited within the guidelines at the time the course was taken.

In order to be considered for Advanced Standing, applicants must complete the course waiver section when completing their application, and those who are approved will be notified prior to the start of the program. Students may receive advanced standing for up to four core Part-Time MBA courses. Waivers must be requested no later than the course drop without a “W” deadline in your first semester enrolled as a student. For Fall entry, this is typically in mid-October, and for Spring entry, this is typically in late February. Waiver requests made after this deadline are invalid and will not be considered.

If the candidate chooses to accept Advanced Standing, they will have the approved class waived, receive a notation on their transcript of receiving a waiver, and therefore reduce the overall credits required for graduation. Ethical Leadership, Leadership through Collaboration, and Leadership Communications courses may not receive advanced standing waivers.
