Center for Latin American Studies Survey Leads to New Events
Last month students pursuing a regional study track in Latin American Studies were asked by the Center what issues should be the focus of events, what kind of speakers they would like to hear from, and lastly, what time of day suited them best to come to events.
We at the Center are very grateful for the replies. We have many ideas to work on and names of speakers whom we will try to invite.
In response to the replies, we have scheduled panel discussions on Ecuador after the Elections and Human Rights in Venezuela, El Salvador and Guatemala. We are working to organize a discussion with lawyers of Project Citizenship on US immigration law and how it works for immigrants from Latin America. Justin Dynia, a Pardee School Latin American Studies masters student worked with Project Citizenship during his time as a staffer at the State Capitol.
Details of upcoming CLAS events are provided in our weekly newsletter. Please subscribe here.
And please keep the ideas coming! We want to hear from you. Email either Paul Hare, Interim Director, or Elizabeth Amrien, Assistant Director.
