Gallagher Speaks at Global Conference on Development Banks
Kevin Gallagher, Professor of Global Development Policy and Director of the Global Development Policy Center at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, discussed development policy and the role of development banks during day one of the Agence Française de Développement’s (AFD) international research conference.
The event, titled “La Main Visible: Les Banques de Développement en Transitions” (The Visible Hand: Development Banks in Transition), brought together researchers, representatives of public development banks, and other stakeholders to reflect, in light of the COVID-19 crisis, on the key role that development banks can play in establishing an efficient global financial architecture oriented towards sustainable development.
During his remarks, Gallagher discussed the need for Public Development Banks (PDB) to collaborate with regard to best practices and work more closely with the private sector, government, and civil society. He also explained how sustainable development can support global economic recovery.
A video preview in which Gallagher presents his research on development finance, as well as a recording of day one of the conference during which Gallagher spoke are available below.
