Dr. Chuanhua Duan
Prof. Duan received his B.E. and M.E. degrees in Engineering Thermophysics at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2002 and 2004, respectively. In 2009, he received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, for research conducted in the Nano-Energy Lab under the guidance of Professor Arun Majumdar. After graduation, he joined Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Fellow, under the advisory of Prof. Peidong Yang and Dr. Arun Majumdar. Over his Ph.D. and post-doctoral work (2005-2011), Chuanhua investigated enhanced ion/molecule transport using 1-D and 2-D confined nanostructures, for both fundamental understanding and practical applications in biosensing and energy conversion/storage. His research interests include energy conversion and storage, micro/nanofluidics, and phase change heat transfer.
