For Decade of Service, Associate Professor Canan Gunes Corlu Wins INFORMS Meritorious Award

BU MET Associate Professor Canan Gunes Corlu has been recognized by the leading international association for professionals in operations research and management science, INFORMS, for her decade of exceptional dedication and leadership within the organization.

INFORMS President Stephen C. Graves, of MIT’s Sloan School of Management, presented Dr. Corlu with the INFORMS Meritorious Service Award during the prestigious professional society’s annual meeting, held October 24–27, 2021 in Anaheim, with many members attending virtually.

“It was a big pleasure to represent BU MET in front of more than 6,500 attendees,” said Dr. Corlu, who coordinates MET’s Supply Chain Management programs and serves as codirector of the Decision Sciences Research Laboratory (DSLab).

INFORMS is a 10,000 member-strong collection of operations research and management science professionals from all over the world, and Dr. Corlu has embraced a number of positions with the group over the past 10 years, from her beginnings as a conference organizer and session chair, to service on a series of committees, and her current roles as a mentor and as treasurer of the INFORMS Simulation Society.

In her decade of INFORMS service, Dr. Corlu has held the following invaluable roles:
