Alternative & Emerging Careers
Increasing numbers of our graduates and students use their legal training outside of traditional legal practice, whether as in–house counsel at leading corporations such as Viacom and Uber, as consultants for McKinsey or The Boston Consulting Group, as entrepreneurs, or in the burgeoning compliance field at financial and healthcare and biotech organizations. New and vital areas of employment are constantly emerging, and our work with this sector evolves and responds accordingly, to ensure our knowledge of this space and the opportunities for BU Law students and graduates develop accordingly.
While some of the most visible legal jobs are in law firms and government agencies, there are a host of opportunities in a wide variety of settings, legal, non-legal, and quasi-legal, where you can work with a JD outside of the traditional firm or government agency career path. These include:
- In-House Legal Departments
- Compliance (financial, healthcare, etc.)
- Tax
- Management Consulting
- Entrepreneurial Jobs
If you are considering a career in one of these sectors, or another one entirely, schedule an appointment with your CDO Advisor or Quinnie Lin to talk about options and opportunities.
