Event Highlights: Latin American Art Songs Concert Featuring Eduardo Rojas

On Wednesday, September 27, the Center for Latin American Studies kicked off National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) with – in what has become an annual tradition for the Center – a concert of Latin American art songs curated by Prof. David Guzman. This year’s concert featured solo piano repertoire and accompaniment by Colombia’s celebrated classical music star, virtuoso pianist Eduardo Rojas. Rojas was joined by BU School of Music Voice Department students:  Grace Christensen, Stella Fitzgerald, Mirah Johnston, and Anna Ruggiero. The event took place at Marsh Chapel and was followed by the Center’s Fall Welcome Reception.

Eduardo Rojas, is renowned for his delicate touch, colorful tone and the deep musicality with which he delivers his powerful, fiery renditions of European and PanAmerican repertoire. His flawless technique, vast knowledge of composition theory and historical background of the works he choses to present, earn him the admiration and respect of fellow musicians and critics while his big heart, courage and humanity win him the love of his audiences.
