Soumendra Basu, affiliated faculty with the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is Professor and Associate Division Head of Materials Science and Engineering, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Boston University’s College of Engineering. Basu focuses his research interests on solid oxide fuel cells, metal/metal oxide systems for grid-level energy storage, green processing for solar-grade silicon production, high-temperature materials for increasing the efficiency of gas turbines, and wide band-gap materials for solid-state lighting.
