Hiring
The hiring process for Faculty Practice Foundation Faculty has two distinct steps: creating or maintaining the position the individual will occupy, and hiring them into that role.
Individuals with multiple assignments should have their main assignment hired into first. Main assignments are normally the primary academic appointment with the exception of Provost/Dean/and Center Directors taking precedence as the main assignment.
Organizational Management (OM) Process.
Departmental administrator will utilize SAP/BUworks to create or maintain a position to prepare it for the hire.
Prerequisites:
- HR Requirements:
- Attachments: Offer Letter and/or Appointment Letter (if appointment is finalized in time for hire)
- Comments: must include previous BUID# if one already exists
- Dean’s Office Requirements:
- IP Policy/Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement/Resume or CV/Salary Letter?
- Committee determines job/rank of position prior to or during recruitment. You will provide this job number on the position creation or maintenance form.

Personnel Administration (PA) Process.
Departmental Administrator will utilize SAP/BUworks to process a hire form to bring the faculty member on to Boston University payroll.
Prerequisites:
- Dean’s Office Requirements:
- Offer Letter and/or Appointment Letter (if appointment is finalized in time for hire)
- IP Policy/Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement/Resume or CV/Salary Letter?

Employee Onboarding Process
All paid employees will receive automatic account creation instructions and I-9 instructions at the time the hire form is completed.
Individuals that are eligible for Boston University benefits (50% time or greater and 9 months or longer assignment duration) will be invited to complete onboarding activities in Red Carpet.
