Sucharita Gopal presents in India on China’s foreign investment in energy
Sucharita Gopal, Professor in the Department of Earth and Environment at Boston University and GDP Center Faculty Steering Committee Member, presented in Goa, India at the 12th World Congress of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) in late May 2018. Gopal presented on her shared research with Global Development Policy Center Director Kevin Gallagher. Her presentation titled, “Mapping China’s Foreign Direct Investment in the Global Energy Sector” was delivered as part of the “Location of Economic Activity” session.
Gopal’s research is multidisciplinary dealing with spatial analysis and modeling, GIS, data mining and information visualization and artificial neural networks. She has applied spatial analysis to address a variety of problems in biology, environmental science, public health and business. She has also worked on uncertainty issues related to GIS using neural networks for pattern classification, estimation and mixture modeling.
