Colleen Cleary

Colleen is a two-time graduate of Boston University, earning both of her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences. Throughout her studies at BU, Colleen worked with the PERD aquatics team holding just about every possible role: lifeguard, deck supervisor, swim instructor, swim lesson supervisor, lifeguard instructor, and master team swim coach. She is beyond thrilled to return to the department that she called home during those years.

Understanding the impact that physical activity and recreation can have on mental and physical health, it is Colleen’s mission in life to provide education on water safety in order to make aquatic recreation more accessible and attainable.

She has worked in recreation and athletics for over 15 years in both community and university settings, most recently overseeing training and operations of recreation employees, and supporting varsity programming at Harvard University.

In her spare time, you can find her either in or near a body of water, or out hiking in the mountains.
