Production, Service, and Energy Systems

Smart cities, the smart grid, intelligent transportation networks, and smart manufacturing systems are among the new technological environments that require new approaches. These approaches are needed to leverage emerging computation, measurement, and communication capabilities offered by cyber-physical systems, sensor networks, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address the demands of today and tomorrow. Research in SE and the affiliated Center for Information and Systems Engineering (CISE) addresses the challenges in the areas of smart cities, intelligent transportation, energy economics and management, smart grids, production scheduling and planning, logistics, inventory control, supply chain management, and financial engineering.
