Internships provide a valuable opportunity for hands-on experience outside their familiar academic environment, and so much more. Here’s what our undergraduate students have to say about their work in the field …
I was always interested in the power and energy industry; working for National Grid gave me the opportunity to work on high-level relay settings for transformers and SLD/TLD designs for a 5-10 MW solar plant, teaching me things you can’t learn in school. The skills I picked up ultimately helped me to wrap up my Senior Design project!”

Vicor
R&D for Automotive Engineering
I had the opportunity to write an article and have it published, so that was great! I also learned how valuable good company culture is for productivity and overall job satisfaction.”
-Noa Margolin (’25)
This was a small startup working on implantable electrodes designed to help patients with neural disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease. I helped program an FPGA to be used to send and receive dummy signals with their ASIC which interfaces with the electrodes. With this internship, I was able to experience being part of a startup, where I was able to get a grasp of the overall system rather than just a very small part of one or many products. This was valuable because it gave me an experience with a project with a real impact on the world.”
-Steven Cheng (’24)
Loved it so much. I was on a small, close-knit team where I was doing very interesting work, given a lot of responsibility, and learning so much. I got to learn about how projects are managed and how I should pace my work to meet expectations. Just getting real world experience and knowing industry standards was one super valuable takeaway.”

GE Aerospace
Data & Control Systems for Engine Testing
A well-structured internship with lots of resources available outside of work (activities, organized lunches, etc). The environment was friendly and relaxed, with a lot of flexibility, and there was great mentorship and guidance available. Overall, a great experience! Would recommend to anyone looking into aerospace/defense.”
-Odilon Quevillon (’25)
Johnson & Johnson
Software Engineering
I was able to work on software, which inspired me to switch from Biomedical to Computer Engineering!”
