James Rebitzer‘s research and teaching is on organizational economics with a special emphasis on behavioral issues in the economics of human resource systems. His recent work concerns organizational issues in the U.S. healthcare system. A Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Levy Economics Institute, James has published numerous works and was awarded the Health Care Research Award from the National Institute of Health Care Management in 2004 and the Kenneth J. Arrow Award for the best paper in health economics in 2012.
Before joining BU, James was distinguished faculty at Case’s Weatherhead School of Management where he was not only the Mannix Professor of Health Care Finance and Economics but also Economics Department Chair. His arrival to Questrom School of Business in 2009 began his service as founding chair of the Markets, Public Policy, and Law department as well as a courtesy appointment within the College of Arts and Sciences as an Economics professor. James was named as Questrom’s Peter and Deborah Wexler Professor of Management in 2018.
