Summer teaching is a unique situation.

The compressed timeframe means faculty teach
and students learn a semester’s worth of material over the course of six or so weeks. Despite the challenges that come with such a pace, the research on accelerated teaching suggests that when instructors use active learning strategies, students tend to be more engaged, less prone to burnout, and able to retain material at the same rate as in semester-long courses (Hermann et al., 2016). The strategies below can help instructors meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities. If you would like to discuss any of these strategies, please sign up for a consultation.
