Job Description

Boston University’s Metropolitan College, Department of Computer Science, is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor of the Practice, specializing in data analytics or software development, to join our nationally recognized program starting July or September 1, 2025. The candidate will play a critical role in delivering rigorous, industry-relevant education across flexible course formats, preparing students for impactful careers in the field.

Responsibilities include teaching up to six courses per academic year at the graduate and undergraduate levels, which may involve face-to-face, blended, or online formats. Additional duties entail active research, development of course materials and curriculum, and mentorship of both students and part-time faculty members. The role also requires engagement in service to the department, college, and the university.

This position offers significant opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within Boston University and the surrounding Boston area, contributing to curriculum development and research at Metropolitan College.

Required Technical Knowledge/Skills

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in computer science or a related field, with a strong teaching and research record. Extensive professional and industry experience is preferred, particularly in areas like information security, computer networks, and health informatics.
