Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 07/14/23

General Project Information

Daily Work Hours from 6 am – 3 pm. (6 am for interior work)
The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
- Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
- Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
- Boston police detail is on site daily assisting with traffic control and safety.
- Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a “no parking zone”. This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.

Consigli: 2 workers on site providing site supervision.
Mass Acoustics: 4 workers taping in the recycling rooms and the fan coil enclosures.
Murphy Electric: 6 workers completing punch list items from the Boston Fire Department, working on finishes on floors 1 and 9, wiring HVAC equipment on level 9, and re-feeding the west alley chiller.
Titan: 4 workers removing and replacing the 2nd-floor back roof.
Egan Painting: 4 people completing paint on levels 1 and 9.’
JC Floors: Installing flooring on levels 8 and 9.
Riggs: 4 laborers cleaning throughout as well as a panel crew working on mechanical roof screens.

On level 9, Royal Steam HVAC will be continuing with finishes and controls installation, and completing the piping of the runtal units.
Murphy Electric will continue with light fixture installation, devicing, and finishes on levels 1 and 9. The team will also be completing the Boston Fire punch list and final fire alarm testing.
Mass Acoustics to start closing up the recycling room exhaust enclosures.
LRS back on site to tie up any loose ends after lighting work on the 8th floor last week.
Titan will continue with the 2nd-floor low roof removal and replacement.
JC Floors continues to install flooring on level 1 and in the dorm room corridors on floors 2 through 6.
Riggs masonry will continue work on the 2nd-floor lower roof parapet.
Egan Paint to continue painting at the fan coil enclosures and finish final painting on floors 1 and 9.
Architectural team to continue with punch list items on all floors.
Dow will be back on site finishing the drainage tie-ins at the street along with the west alley clean-up.
Consigli/Riggs team on site for cleaning, site support, and supervision.
