COM alumni Gary Fleder and Scott Rosenberg sponsor a contest each year to recognize the best student short screenplay and best student feature screenplay. In addition, the Sumner Redstone Foundation sponsors awards honoring half-hour and hour-long TV pilots. Cash prizes will be awarded in each category.
Rules:
- The contest is open to all currently enrolled Film & TV grad students, majors, and minors at Boston University, as well as students whose degree was conferred in May 2024.
- Limit one entry per student per category.
- Screenplay must be properly formatted.
- Shorts must be 20 pages or fewer in length.
- Features must be 85-120 pages in length.
- Half-hour TV pilots must be no longer than 33 pages in length; hour-long pilots should not exceed 55 pages in length.
- Features must have been written or revised in a feature writing class at BU.
- The script must be original, no adaptations (unless you own the rights to the property or it is in the public domain).
- No paper or emailed submissions will be accepted.
- Your name or other contact information may not appear anywhere in or on the script. The cover page should only include the title of the work. Submissions not adhering to this will be returned.
Submissions are due by 11:59 pm, January 5, 2025.
