Paschalidis Hosts Symposium on Control and Network Systems

The 2nd Symposium on the COntrol of NEtwork Systems (SCONES) was held on Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the Boston University Photonics Center. SCONES was hosted by Professor Ioannis Paschalidis (ECE, BME, SE), the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems (TCNS), a publication sponsored by the IEEE Control Systems Society.

“The agenda of the symposium demonstrates the spread of network thinking and the impact of systems and control methods to a variety of areas, from power systems, to robotics, biology, as well as networks with human actors such as social networks and transportation networks,” said Paschalidis.

SCONES brings together the scientific community working on questions relating to networks and control, either mathematical and/or of interest to a variety of application domains. The first Symposium was held in 2014 to celebrate the inaugural issue of TCNS and discuss the future of the networks and control field. The IEEE publication TCNS focuses on systems with interconnected parts, which have emerged in many fields, including economics, biology, and all areas of engineering.

SCONES 2017 featured invited talks from global research leaders and a contributed poster session, showcasing the work of students and post-doctoral fellows, many of whom are at Boston University. The Center for Information and 系统工程, directed by Paschalidis, is handling the organization of SCONES.  Read information presented at SCONES 2017 in this IEEE Control Systems Society publication  DOI: 10.1109/MCS.2017.2786501.
