Proof of Employment Eligibility (Form I-9)
All newly admitted PhD & MFA students will need to show Proof of Employment Eligibility before they can work on campus. This affects all students receiving a service stipend (teaching fellowship, research fellowship, grad assistantship, grader position, etc.).
If you only have a non-service stipend (dean’s fellowship, dissertation fellowship, traineeship, special award, or prize, etc.) you do not need to complete any employment forms at this time. If you will provide service in a future semester or year, you may need to submit these forms at that time.
When you are hired in our Student Employment System, you will receive a system-generated email asking you to complete part 1 of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9). You will need to complete part 2 with a University staff member. Please refer to the Student Employment Office and/or the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services websites for additional information and list of acceptable documents.
Important: Most forms are unavailable on mobile phones. Please use a desktop computer!
- If your supervisor is unable to meet with you, please visit the staff at First Point to complete part 2 of your I-9.
- If you received an automated email asking you to contact Martin Gastmann in the Graduate School of Arts and 科学, please ignore it; instead visit First Point.
