  1. Such inspiration at the level mirrored in the Dick & Rickie Hoyt Team is rare and extraordinary when experienced by average individuals facing average challenges. We are are honored and grateful to have witnessed and shared in their unique father/son journey.

While I was studying at BU, my own brother was attempting to survive a traumatic car accident – he learned to eat, talk and walk again – returning to finishing his residency in surgery,

I saw the same, strong determination years later with the Hoyts – as I lined up with my husband to often compete in the Biston Marathon. I treasure my racer’s hat autographed by Dick one year long ago. Running the 100th Boston Marathon within a year of surviving stage 2 breast cancer I was motivated by their sheer will to succeed and determination.
They both are my forever heroes, inspiring me to start & complete 26 full marathons and running up Mt. Washington eight times.

May both their memories be for immense blessings. Their story of love and grit is exceptionally courageous.

Thank you Rickie – fellow BU alum. This year is my 50th Alumni Reunion – back in my college years I did not run. I recall my answer when a roommate asked if I wanted to watch the Boston Marathon, “ Who wants to watch a bunch of sweaty men run ??” Amazing how time changes how we view various elements in life – and how wonderful women are included and important in a major way, running and even serving as VP right now !

    1. Bless Rickie – you are so loved & cherished !

Dick and Rickie are surely united & always inspiring us even now after each has now passed.

Bless Dick, an admirable father & incredible athlete !

  2. What a beautiful tribute! Rick is my husband’s uncle. Great to see the place I work give tribute a family member, an alum, and an icon to many.
