Bostonia Invites Alums to Send Us an Original Poem
The theme of your submission: gratitude
Let’s face it: it’s been a long couple of years. At Bostonia, we’re looking for ways to stay upbeat.
Here’s one: we are inviting alumni—seasoned poets and beginners alike—to submit an original poem of up to 10 lines on the theme of gratitude. You can be witty or contemplative, upbeat or glum, and your poem can take any form.
We were inspired by John Arsenault (CAS’96) of Reno, Nev., who began a conversation in haiku with a friend over Facebook in the spring of 2020, as a way to cope with the coronavirus quarantine.
“The world needs more art,” John writes. “When life gets hard, haiku.”
We agree. Please submit your verse, by August 1, 2022, to Cindy Buccini at bostonia@bu.edu, with “poetry submission” in the subject line. Include your name, your school(s)/year(s) of graduation, and where you live. We plan to publish a selection of poems in the fall Bostonia magazine and at bu.edu/bostonia.
Thank you!
