There is 1 comment on Boston University Weekly COVID-19 Report: January 13 to 19

  1. “no one from BU has died or been hospitalized with serious illness caused by the coronavirus since the start of BU’s coronavirus surveillance program in July 2020.”

This is very good news, but we shouldn’t only be concerned about deaths. Research suggests that 10% of people who are infected with Covid-19 suffer from Long Covid (symptoms that last longer than three weeks). At the present average rate of 10 infections per day on average, that means we can expect one person per week to suffer from Long Covid. Of the 1028 people who have tested positive according to the BU testing program, 103 may suffer from Long Covid. Is the university monitoring and assisting these sufferers? Is all the suffering that is caused by Covid being factored in to the university’s decision making processes, as public health experts would advise it should be?
