Director of the National Institute of Mental Health Thomas Insel thinks researchers have neglected a potential wellspring of solutions: neuroscience

Since he became director of the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) over a decade ago, Thomas Insel has been methodically changing its direction. A graduate of both Boston University’s College of Arts & Sciences and School of Medicine, he wants to turn the attention of NIMH researchers to the biological mechanisms that make some brains malfunction. The big promise, he believes, lies in the mysteries of neuroscience.
