The Archaeology Program at Boston University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor

The Archaeology Program at Boston University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor with a focus on the archaeology of Mesoamerica, beginning Fall 2024. This position is a one-year, non-renewable, non-tenure-track appointment with a teaching load of two courses per semester. We seek a specialist in the material culture, history, and archaeology of one or more Indigenous societies of Mesoamerica. Temporal period and technical specialty are open; ability to teach courses on Mesoamerica, a pan-Americas course, and Introduction to Archaeology is preferred. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to continue their research program and to advise Archaeology students as relevant. Successful applicants will have evidence of prior teaching experience and effectiveness, an active research program (field, lab, and/or museum/archival) based in Mesoamerica, and a commitment to increasing diversity and fostering inclusion in academia.
Terms of this one-year, full-time appointment include a set salary of $72,000, benefits in accordance with University policy, and limited relocation expenses for non-local candidates. This is a finite term, non-renewable position.
