In addition to weekly FREDA Writing group sessions, the department has multiple available spaces for individual writing by request via our Administrative Team!
Office space is at a premium, so please do not hesitate to ask.
Other Options
  • The BU library also has carrels available for ABD doctoral candidates who are in the process of writing their dissertations and need quiet office space. If you would like to request one of the spaces, you can apply by obtaining a letter from your faculty advisor confirming that you are solely working on your dissertation and filling out this form: https://bu.libwizard.com/f/Graduate_Carrel_App
  • The  Center for Innovation in Social Science (CISS)  also has desk space that you can request to use. I don’t believe you have to be ABD to request use that space, but they have more limited availability.
    • Center affiliates are able to reserve a desk at the Center, located in the middle of campus, at 704 Commonwealth Avenue, 5th Floor. The desk is located in a shared office and is open to all CISS faculty and graduate affiliates, pending availability. You can book it using this link: https://calendly.com/bu_ciss
