Interested in volunteering, but feeling exhausted lately? We’re offering plenty of low-key volunteer opportunities as part of this year’s Global Days of Service. Whether you participate from home or in a quiet space, these five opportunities are an easy, yet meaningful way to get involved. (Perfect for those who need a break from their day-to-day routine or like to do activities in environments with fewer stimuli.) Plus there is no time restriction, you can participate in the opportunities listed below throughout the month of April.
Put pen to paper, literally
Uplift first-generation college graduates by writing them letters of congratulations and encouragement. This opportunity is offered through Boston University’s Newbury Center – established in January of 2021 to support the success of first-generation students.
The Letter Project helps to support a community of women and girls across six different continents through the power of letter writing. As a volunteer, you’ll receive letter requests and be able to choose which recipients you’d like to write a letter to.
Transcribe important historical records
Help make historical records more searchable and accessible by becoming a Citizen Archivist! With this opportunity, you’ll get to virtually tag and transcribe historical records from a variety of topics in the National Archives.
The Smithsonian Transcription Center is also looking for digital volunteers to help transcribe their historical collections. You can contribute as much as you’d like, from the comfort of your own home.
Use your coloring skills
Coloring can be both therapeutic for the artist, and for those who appreciate art. By volunteering with Color A Smile, you can mail off your coloring pages to senior citizens, troops, or anyone in need of a smile. This opportunity is perfect for children, or for those who wish to reconnect with their inner child.
Make an impact while you still can, and register for these flexible, remote volunteer projects today! Click here for a full list of this year’s Global Days of Service volunteer opportunities.
