    This course develops the English language skills of students interested in developing, implementing, and promoting business ventures, with special focus on reading about and researching the business environment, collaborative brainstorming, writing a business analysis and plan, presenting and selling business ideas, giving presentations, and expressing and defending ideas clearly.

    This course is designed to help students build the English language skills that are essential to being successful in your MBA or graduate business diploma program.. Students will work on improving their speaking and listening by discussing business cases, developing oral presentations and listening to presentations and/or lectures. They will learn how to take effective notes, identify critical material in readings, and explain their points in clear and accurate English in speech and in writing.
  • EOP CO 011: Communication 1
    This course is designed to advance the speaking and writing skills that you are learning in Core class. Additionally, this course focuses on expanding vocabulary. During the course, you will use basic vocabulary and grammatical structures during speaking and writing activities, such as in-class presentations, reading aloud, role plays, writing descriptions, and dictations.
  • EOP CO 012: Active English 1
    You will improve your speaking and listening and develop your vocabulary in this project-based class. You will learn actively with other students when you do presentations about your country and culture, engage in experiential learning, practice using English in real-life situations, and learn about American culture and customs through holiday-based projects and other activities.
  • EOP CO 033: Business Communication 3
    This course will help you learn how to communicate in oral and written English in business settings so that you can interact more effectively in the global marketplace. You will learn strategies for and practice giving presentations, participating in meetings, conducting interviews and making telephone calls. You will write a range of business communications such as letters, emails, memos, reports and resumes. Attention will be given to intercultural considerations.
  • EOP CO 043: Business Communication 4
    This course will help you learn how to communicate in oral and written English in business settings so that you can interact more effectively in the global marketplace. You will learn strategies for and practice giving presentations, participating in and leading meetings, conducting interviews and making telephone calls.     Students will build language skills that are essential to the effective use of written legal English. This will include legal vocabulary and written argumentation. (Foundations of Legal English and the US Legal System)
  • EOP LA 045: Law School Skills
    Students will build skills that are essential to the effective use of written and spoken legal English. This course combines the skills honed in the language skills courses with applied practice in legal functions. Students will also gain an understanding of the US legal system through case readings and discussions of the historical and cultural environment in which it functions.     Students will build language skills that are essential to the effective use of spoken legal English. This will include legal vocabulary, oral argumentation, and public speaking. (Foundations of Legal English and the US Legal System)
  • EOP LS 049: Readings in the Social Sciences 4
    This course will help you to prepare for success in university level classes in the social sciences (e.g., anthropology, sociology, psychology, political science, international relations, gender studies and economics), with a focus on improving your reading and speaking skills. Course activities and materials will include academic readings, primary source texts, discussions, presentations, test-taking practice, and the use of audio and video in the areas of student interest.
