Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences

Psychology uses scientific methods to describe, predict, understand, and explain human behavior. Combined with appropriate related courses, the major provides students with an undergraduate background for graduate programs in psychology and other disciplines such as medicine, law, and public policy. Faculty members are currently involved in research in a number of areas including, memory, cognitive neuroscience, computational approaches, neurophysiology, vision sciences, behavioral genetics, child cognition, autism, anxiety and related disorders, and addiction. The department includes graduate students being trained in both masters and doctoral programs and more than 30 faculty members who share a serious commitment to teaching and research.

Undergraduate Psychology Association

Students are encouraged to join the Undergraduate Psychology Association, an organization composed of psychology majors and minors. The association is a student-run organization that sponsors academic, career-oriented, and social events to help supplement students’ academic programs.
