College of Arts & Sciences
The College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) is an academic community of students and faculty involved in the discovery, evaluation, and transmission of essential knowledge. Through study of the humanities, the natural and computational sciences, and the social sciences, young men and women prepare to lead fulfilled and examined lives and to assume roles as creative and contributing members of society.

Special programs are offered in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Shanghai, China; Copenhagen, Denmark; Quito, Ecuador; London, England; Grenoble, France; Paris, France; Dresden, Germany; Haifa, Israel; Milan, Italy; Padua, Italy; Rome, Italy; Venice, Italy; Kyoto, Japan; Tokyo, Japan; Beirut, Lebanon; Rabat, Morocco; Singapore; Burgos, Spain; Madrid, Spain; Menorca, Spain; Geneva, Switzerland; Zanzibar, Tanzania; Istanbul, Turkey; Los Angeles, CA; and Washington, DC. All of these programs extend the college classroom beyond the greater Boston community. Collaborative programs with area universities and colleges allow students to cross-register for classes.
The College provides the liberal arts foundation for undergraduates in the University’s professional schools and colleges.
