  • PDP AQ 101: Beginning Swim
    For those who have had little or no swimming experience. Instruction in basic swimming skills for beginners to advanced beginners. Learn and improve the crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke. Work at your own pace with individualized guidance from the instructor.
  • PDP AQ 110: Aqua Aerobics
    A total body workout designed to increase cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, and flexibility in a low-impact environment.
  • PDP AQ 201: Swimming, Stroke Improvement
    For swimmers who have a solid understanding of the crawl stroke and are familiar with backstroke and breaststroke. Students learn drills for skill improvement. Emphasis is on body form, stroke efficiency, and conditioning in all the strokes.
  • PDP AQ 210: Springboard Diving
    Introduction to basic board work, including somersaults and twisting. Open to both beginning and experienced divers.
  • PDP AQ 220: Scuba
    Prereq: 200-yard swim test and 10 minute float. Course includes all pool and academic training to become scuba certified. Pool equipment is provided. Lab fee: $50. Additional fees due to instructor: $85 for books. Open water dives, necessary to become certified, will be offered by instructor for $275. Purchase or rental of personal gear, wetsuit, mask, and fins is required for open water dives. If students choose to do their open water dive elsewhere, a $45 referral certificate must be purchased.
  • PDP AQ 301: Fitness Swim
    Prereq: Ability to swim 200 yards continuously and competence in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. For intermediate and advanced swimmers who want to improve their fitness and technique through workouts and drills. The class will focus on applying the basics of fitness swimming, including technique drills, flip turns, reading a pace clock and interval training that includes endurance, speed and strength sets. Coached workouts are provided for more advanced swimmers.
  • PDP AQ 320: Lifeguard Training
    Prereq: Must be at least 15 years old and pass the swim test given by the instructor at the first class. This American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course emphasizes professionalism, accident prevention, surveillance, victim recognition, and equipment-based rescues. Students who pass the practical and written exams receive certification which includes Lifeguard Training/First Aid/CPR/AED. Lab fee: $100.
  • PDP AQ 330: Water Safety Instructor
    Prereq: Must be at least 16 years old and pass the swim test given by the instructor at the first class. This certification class will prepare students to become American Red Cross certified swim instructors. Students who pass a written exam and practical skills test receive certification in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Lab fee: $115.
  • PDP CS 101: Volleyball, Beginning
    Learn and practice techniques used in power volleyball: bump, set, spike, dig, and serve. Various drills encourage skill improvement. Ample time is provided for practice in class scrimmages. 1cr either sem
  • PDP CS 106: Tennis, Beginning
    Introduction to the rules and fundamental practices of tennis including basic strokes, techniques, and playing in game situations. Tennis is played on the outdoor tennis courts at the Case Center when seasonally appropriate, then moves to indoor courts at the Track and Tennis Center.
  • PDP CS 108: Badminton, Beginner
    This course will allow the students to understand the basics of badminton. It will introduce the old and new type of scoring in games, different hand grips, footwork, and badminton ranking. The students mainly focus on one type of hand grip, which is called the basic grip. This grip will allow students to perform different types of shots, enabling them to compete with players in the C division.
  • PDP CS 109: Racquetball, Beginning
    Course is designed for players to learn the basics of racquetball. Each week players will be introduced to a new skill that will be stressed in interactive play. Racquets, goggles and balls are provided. Appropriate footwear is required.
  • PDP CS 111: Squash, Fundamentals
    This course provides an introduction to basic stroke mechanics and rules of the game. Strength, flexibility and fitness for the beginner are all considered through the lens of "racquet skill acquisition". By the end of the course students will be able to demonstrate better ball-control and efficient movement around the court. Perennial trouble spots on the court and common biomechanical errors are assessed and short, round-robin competition will round-out each session. Loose, athletic clothing and non- marking sneakers are required. Racquets, balls, and lensed polycarbonate eye-protection will be available at no cost from the pro shop.
  • PDP CS 201: Power Volleyball
    Intermediate/advanced class intended for those who have had exposure to competitive volleyball. Basic skills are reviewed and practiced, and various offenses and defenses are incorporated into class scrimmages.
  • PDP CS 206: Tennis, Intermediate
    Course is designed to review and expand skills learned in Beginning Tennis (CS 106). Students will build on fundamental strokes and techniques with lessons on topspin, slicing and utilizing them in interactive play and match situations.
  • PDP CS 301: Volleyball, Advanced
    Advanced class intended for those who have had years of exposure to competitive volleyball. Intermediate skills are reviewed and practiced and complex offenses and defenses are incorporated into class scrimmages.
  • PDP DA 100: Pilates-Based Conditioning
    Students explore fundamental matwork evolved from the teaching of Joseph H. Pilates, the seminal conditioning pioneer. Individuals are taught to balance flexibility with strength within the context of proper body alignment. The concepts of centering and stabilization with a strong and mobile abdominal "core" develop finely-tuned athletes and dancers and benefit all who seek an intelligent approach to movement.
  • PDP DA 111: Ballroom, Beginning
    This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate level dancers. Focus is on the Social Style Smooth dances (Fox-trot, Waltz, Tango, and Viennese), and Rhythm/Latin dances (Cha-cha, Rumba, Mambo, Bolero, Samba, Disco Hustle, East Coast Swing.) You will be able to dance with confidence anywhere people come together to socialize.
  • PDP DA 112: Ballroom, Tango
    Focus is on the tango, a smooth dance with Latin roots, popularized in the 1920s and enjoying a resurgence. Beginning and intermediate dancers learn the traditional steps and some of the Argentine variations.
  • PDP DA 113: Ballroom, Swing
    Students will learn the fun East Coast and West Coast Swing styles with a variety of tempi and different rhythm variations.
