Kilachand Ambassadors

The Kilachand Ambassadors are KHC’s official student hosts and representatives. The Ambassadors will contribute to a variety of events for KHC and will assist administrators in recruiting new students. Ambassadors serve as liaisons between the Kilachand Honors College and visitors and will represent the highest ideals of the University, KHC, and fellow classmates.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating with prospective students, meeting with and giving tours to prospective students and their families during campus visits, and attending and assisting with KHC events such as Open House luncheons, Information Sessions, and Parents Weekend events.

Student Government

The core responsibilities of the Kilachand Honors College Student Government are:

• to facilitate social interaction between Honors College students
• to communicate general issues and suggestions to KHC administration on behalf of the student body
• to communicate administration announcements and policies to the KHC student body
• to act as student representatives and points of contact to the general University student body

Meetings will be held on a fixed schedule, on a monthly or bimonthly basis, and will be open to all KHC students.

If a student wishes to run for a position within the Student Government, he or she must submit a letter of intent to the administration, as well as garner 20 supporting signatures from KHC peers. Following the submission of these two documents, a brief interview will be held with administration for final approval. Board member elections will be held at the end of each academic year, while class representative elections will be held at the beginning of each academic year. The KHC administration has final oversight on council decisions and amendments, as well as removal power of ineffective council members with sufficient prior notice.

Peer Advisors

Peer advisors are juniors and seniors who help freshmen navigate academic, extracurricular, and social opportunities at Kilachand Honors College and Boston University. From their first communication with incoming students during the first week of classes, advisors will offer support and assistance to their advisees as they navigate the first year. Peer Advisors are associated with individual rooming groups to build community through study breaks and other events. Peer advisors are part of the first-year advising network comprising academic advisors, resident assistants, and the resident director.

Each Peer Advisor will work with a group of advisees, within Kilachand Hall or Kilachand House, matched by extracurricular and academic interests. Advisors meet with their advisees both individually and in groups in order to help them make the most of what Boston University and Kilachand have to offer. Advisors help build community through bi-monthly study breaks and through Kilachand social events.

The Kilachand Student Services office provides training and support for the Peer Advisor program.
