MD Degree Options
The School of Medicine offers multiple pathways leading to the MD degree, at the core of which is the traditional four-year program.
- The seven-year program, established in 1960, leads to the BA and MD degrees.
- The Modular Medical Integrated Curriculum (MMEDIC), established in 1977, is a non-accelerated, eight-year program that leads to the BA and MD degrees.
- The Early Medical School Selection Program (EMSSP) was developed to increase the enrollment of students from underrepresented minority groups, and works in affiliation with historically black- and Latino-serving undergraduate institutions.
- The alternative curriculum is provided by the School of Medicine to allow students the option of completing any academic year of medical school in two calendar years.

Combined degree options are also offered, and students may apply to enter one of them at any time, before or after matriculation.
